Hurling.

The sport of Hurling is developing steadily in Scoil Íosa. As with football teams the school hurling teams compete in the main Cumann na mBunscol competitions. In the recent past  our teams have progressed to the latter stages of the competitions reaching the Division 2 final in 2011 where we were narrowly beaten by Ballyvary N.S after an epic struggle consisting of three periods of extra time, and reaching the Division 1 Semi Final in 2012 where we were beaten by the eventual winners Westport N.S. by a one point margin. More recently we have concentrated in developing the game among our younger children with regular coasching session being facilitated by hurling coaches Adrian Hession and Dom Greally.  Mr. O'Brien coaches the school Hurling Team.

Congratulations to John Reidy and Patrick Caulfield on their selection on the County team which participated in the school of excellence held recently in Pearse Stadium Galway
