Mr Duggan & Ms. Byrne
From Small Beginnings
Local horticultualist Margie Phillips held a workshop in sixth class where we planted some acorns. We hope that they will grow to become fine examples of one of our greatest native trees The Oak.
Cycle Safety Course March 2014
Road Safety Course 2014
We took part in a cycle safety course during the month of March, in which we learned about all aspects of road safety and cycle safety. We did the course on Thursdays for three weeks. Forty eight pupils from sixth class took part in the course. We were divided into groups of sixteen pupils. Everybody took part in several exercises to help us with balance, safe cycling and road safety awareness. Once again Gerry Butler expertly put us through our paces. It was a very enjoyable experience for all of the pupils.
Tree Planting in The Friary Grounds
On April 10th Mr. Duggans sixth class were invited to the Friary Grounds to take part in the annual Tree Planting ceremony. This year the students helped to plant some fruit trees as part of the community garden initiative currently ongoing in the Family Resource Centre. While there the pupils were taken on a tour of the facilities. Our thanks to Stephen Grogan for his kind invitation to the children to partake in this very worthwhile project.
